CSS really isn't that hard to learn and well worth the effort when you see the control it gives you over HTML. Pages that just aren't possible with HTML can be made with CSS and that makes it worth learning right there.

As the web matures, styles will become increasingly more important and you will need to know them. Slowly it's transforming from the original HTML only based pages to CSS and XHTML to better format the content. Those that keep up with the changes will be well ahead of the people who don't.

All this aside, CSS can be challenging and fun. To create a web site with a distinct look and feel to it that separates it from the millions of other sites out there is a real accomplishment and something to be proud of. A web site can be as individual as the person who creates it and knowing how to create it makes it all possible.
